Migrant Rights aims to raise awareness about the plight of migrant workers in the Middle East. Since launching the site in 2013, we’ve been deeply involved in the web strategy across the organisation, supporting their goals through highly bespoke development and engaging digital design.

Challenging the authority
With the website at the core of the Migrant Rights communication strategy, establishing and maintaining brand authority would be crucial to breaking the silence surrounding the denial of workers’ basic rights and to lobby for legislative changes.
We devised a strategy in collaboration with the Migrant Rights team that favours a highly engaging platform but retains a sense of respect and authority.
Mapping and reporting abuses
The Rights Abuses Map has become a major part of the website by immediately drawing attention to the plight of migrant workers in the region. This tool allows reporting of all incidents in the area and allows users to easily browse and filter the data.
Accessibility was a primary consideration, particularly around the reporting of current events.
News takes centre stage on the homepage alongside statistics and further immersive content. Meanwhile, flexible layouts frame individual articles according to editorial needs. And sharing options are encouraged throughout the site.
Interactive infographics educate users about the challenges faced by migrant workers in the Middle East. To ensure maximum audience access and reach, this content is tailored for all screen sizes, and is built with lightweight front-end technologies.
While news and reporting takes centre stage on the homepage, the deeper content comprises key information. Social sharing is encouraged through highly bespoke animated infographics, statistics, campaigns and more.
An evolving information hub
A practical design ensures this information-heavy site is always readable and easy to use. Content is always at the forefront, supported by interactive and rich components to further the message and audience engagement where possible.
